The dynamic optimization system for the whole process of blended coal combustion in large scale utility boiler

The Second Class National Awards for Scientific and Technical Process (2014)  

At present, the key problem for energy-saving and emission-reduction in thermal power station is the scientific coal blending and optimized firing. The project developed an intelligent optimization system including hardware and software which used for large scale utility boiler in the whole process of blended coal combustion. The system achieved efficient control on “Precise blending”, “Accurate conveying”, and “Optimized combustion” in coal blending combustion process which finally solved the key technical problems on high and efficient coal blending combustion. The establishment of this system provided an intelligent optimization platform which help the coal-fired power plant to operate safely, economically and cleanly.

This technology got three main innovations on “Precise blending theory model of multiple wide rank coals”“Dynamic feedback control technology for accurate conveying of blended coal” and “Oxygen self-adaption optimization technology for coal blending combustion”, and has obtained 9 patents, 4 software copyrights, 3 books, 56 SCI papers, and also 2 electric power industry standards. It has also achieved the first level provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, and the gold medal of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva.

The system has been utilized in over 50 large capacity utility boilers with the total installed capacity over 30000MW. In the past three years, the cumulative new profit was 2.102 billion Yuan with the increased tax of 0.484 billion Yuan. The total saving of standard coal was 394 thousand tons, NOx emission decreasing was 55.7 thousand tons, SO2 emission decreasing was 64 thousand tons, converted decreasing of CO2 emission was 1.02 million tons.
