    Date:2018-08-28Source:

Coal combustion discipline innovation and intelligence base has always insisted on actively creating conditions to attract talents from both domestic and foreign disciplines to join the research team: Introduced Professor Wang Lianping (Changjiang Scholar Lecture Professor) of the University of Delaware, and strengthened basic research on the direction of flow and heat transfer; Introduced Professor Wang Yan (Young Thousand Talents Program) of the Department of Chemical Engineering of the National University of Singapore, which enriched the research strength of the base in the direction of CO2 membrane separation; Introduced Professor Yang Jun (Young Thousand Talents Program) of the Institute of Research and Technology of the Swiss Paul Schell Institute, which enriched the research strength of the base in the flow and heat transfer direction of vapor-liquid two-phase flow; Dr. Liu Wenqiang from the University of Queensland, Dr. Wang Yi from Curtin University, Dr. Chen Sheng from Humboldt University, Germany, etc., were introduced to further enrich the team of young backbone teachers.

Since the implementation of the “111” introduction plan, through the platform of the introduction of wisdom, the base has introduced many well-known foreign experts and scholars to China, and conducted a series of lectures and teaching while conducting research cooperation. It has brought the latest developments and new research ideas of the international frontier to teachers and students, and promoted the development and construction of the discipline. Under the joint funding of the “111” introduction plan and the joint support of other international cooperation projects of the base, the domestic research backbone of the base went to foreign academic backbones to carry out cooperative research, further cultivate high-level innovative talents, and achieved a lot of research results. At the same time, doctoral students are sent abroad to carry out joint training to improve the quality of doctoral students. From 2006 to 2016, the base members accumulatively participated in 374 overseas international conferences, and were invited to give lectures in foreign institutions 49 times; through international cooperation, substantive personnel training (cooperation exchange 60 days and above) 51 people.

The coal-burning discipline innovation-inducing base introduces many outstanding scientists who have long-term research experience in coal-fired pollutant control abroad to conduct academic exchanges, teach doctoral students, and jointly train and exchange.

Through cooperation with overseas academic masters and academic backbones, 263 high-level academic papers and 18 high-level papers were published by ESI. The base has undertaken nearly 50 projects including the EU-China Clean and Renewable Energy Institute Construction Project, the Ministry of Science and Technology International Cooperation Project, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. In 2016, a new key research and development plan was added to the intergovernmental international science and technology innovation cooperation key project (2016YFE0102500, 2016-2019), with a total project funding of 10.06 million yuan.

Professor Jost Wendt, a master of international academics at the base, and Professor Adel F. Sarofim, an academician of the American Academy of Engineering, have come to China to work in China. They have gradually established a cooperation and exchange mechanism in the field of clean energy between China and the United States. In January 2011, the base was officially identified as the Chinese lead unit of the China-US Clean Energy Joint Research Center of the China-US Clean Energy Joint Research Center jointly established by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the National Energy Administration and the US Department of Energy. Professor Zheng Chuguang, the academic leader of the base, served as the Chinese director of the alliance.

The chairman of the Base Academic International Burning Conference, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Combustion and Flame, Professor Peter Glarborg of the Technical University of Denmark, and Professor Mikko Hupa, President of the Åbo Akademi University of Finland, and other EU experts came to China to strengthen cooperation and exchanges between China and the EU in the field of clean energy. In March 2012, the Chinese Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the China-EU Clean and Renewable Energy Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and relied on the base to run schools. This is the third Sino-foreign cooperative education institution established after the China Europe International Business School and the China-EU School of Law.

Professor Jost Wendt, an international academic master of the base, and a joint researcher of academic backbones such as Academician Terry Wall of the Australian Academy of Engineering, Academician Peter Nelson, Academician Dongke Zhang, and Editor-in-Chief of Fuel Processing Technology, Professor Chun-zhu Li. In December 2012, the Base and the United States University of Utah, the University of West Virginia, and the Curtin University of Australia jointly announced the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Coal Clean Utilization International Joint Research Center" was approved, and received excellent results in the 2014 acceptance assessment.
