The Coal Combustion Science and Technology Online Collaborative Research Center is an important construction project of the Ministry of Education as an “Action Plan for the 21st Century Education Revitalization” and an initiative that is in line with international standards. The Coal Combustion Science and Technology Online Cooperation Center is led by the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion, jointly undertaken by Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Southeast University and Xi'an Jiaotong University. The center has built a domestic first-class, internationally renowned professional information platform based on scientific research and engineering-oriented reality, which is attended by a university, a research institute, a thermal power plant, and a power experiment institute. Cooperative research can be carried out in several areas of theoretical research and technology development for coal combustion and its prevention of pollution. Its construction strengthens the cooperation of scientific research, realizes the resource sharing, enhances the research efficiency, promotes the transformation from the scientific research to the realistic productivity, and the rich information resources of the center become the right-hand assistant of the vast number of scientific research workers and engineering technicians. The construction of the Center database platform, in the field of energy, has realized the first time based on internet and massive database, using advanced browser/server/database three-layer framework model of power plant information expert diagnosis platform, its remote monitoring, economic analysis, remote simulation, remote fault diagnosis, The intelligent search engine based on data mining and knowledge discovery has an innovative contribution to the information construction of power plant, the efficient and safe economic operation of the power plant, and the construction of the subject platform of thermal engineering. In the near future, a series of meaningful collaborative research work has been carried out around the implementation of major basic research projects and other basic and applied research programs.

The center passed the acceptance inspection organized by the Ministry of Education in July 2002. The expert's acceptance opinion is that the center is “an online collaborative research center with outstanding achievements, distinctive characteristics and sustainable development”.
