Research objectives
Xinjiang Zhundong Coalfield is the largest fully-fitted coalfield in China with a predicted reserve of 390 billion tons. The large-scale development and utilization of Zhundong Coal is an important link to achieve the “Belt and Road” construction goal. The established Zhundong National Economic and Technological Development Zone is dominated by coal, coal power, coal chemical industry and coal electro-metallurgy. It is an important base for “West-East Gas Transmission” and “Xinjiang Power Transmission to the East”. Zhundong coal is high in price and abundant in reserves. It has important applications in many industries and fields, but its coal quality characteristics are quite different from those of conventional power coal in China. Therefore, there are a series of key scientific and urgent problems to be solved in utilization. Technical problems, such as the serious slagging and contamination characteristics of Zhundong Coal, have greatly affected the safety and economic operation of the power station system, causing high attention from domestic power companies and research institutes.
In response to the national " Belt and Road " strategic concept, service Zhundong coal clean low carbon efficient use and the major national demand of the West development, the State Key laboratory of Coal combustion special set up "Zhundong coal clean low-carbon Efficient use of research team", its overall goal is through basic research-technology development-engineering demonstration of the whole chain design, For Zhundong coal large-scale, clean, low-carbon, efficient use of providing an important support to help the country's coal industry health, benign development.
Research direction
The basic scientific problems in the thermal transformation and chemical transformation of Zhundong coal, including the reactivity of coal and its key influencing factors, the evolution regularity of the carbon-containing macromolecular structure, the change of mineral behavior and its influence on the process of coal conversion, the mechanism of pollutant formation and mathematical description, etc.
The development of Zhundong coal utilization technology, including coal combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, high value-added product generation technology, etc., involves basic theoretical research, process route design, economic evaluation of technology; pollutant suppression in Zhundong coal utilization Technology, waste resource utilization technology, etc.
The engineering demonstration of Zhundong coal utilization technology relies on a series of national high-level bases/centers of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion to actively promote the engineering demonstration of Zhundong coal utilization technology and promote its wide industrial application.
